Meet Dr. Schroeter

Emory Schroeter DMD

My father was a dentist, and I got to experience his service to patients at a young age. After spending some time in his practice during a break from college, I decided that this is what I wanted to do. I love being a dentist, and couldn't ask for a better profession. I get to meet people in our community and get to know their families, while also helping them attain optimal oral health. The combination of personal service and health improvement is truly fulfilling, and I am passionate about my job.

Education and Continuing Education

Prior to becoming a dentist, I attained the following education:

  • Oxford College of Emory University (AA) 1988-1990
  • Emory University (BA) 1990-1992
  • University of Kentucky College of Dentistry (DMD) 1992-1996

After dental school, I joined the Army and completed a one-year dental residency (AEGD), involving further training in all specialty areas of dentistry. I was stationed at Fort Campbell, KY and served for three years as a member of the 101st Airborne division.

Although my formal education is complete, I am always striving to learn the latest dental techniques and technologies. New treatments come out every year that can help me give our patients the most effective and comfortable dental experience possible, and I am always looking for the best services to incorporate into our practice. As a part of my continuing education, I am a member of the Academy of General Dentistry, which requires over 70 hours of continuing education every three years. I have also worked hard to attain the AGD's Fellowship Award, which requires over 500 hours of continuing education and passing a difficult board style exam.

In the Practice

The highlight of my job is simply helping people. From getting them out of pain to helping them attain a beautiful smile, I love making people happy and healthy. I have been practicing dentistry since 1996, and enjoy combining art with science to give our patients a happy dental experience.

Many new patients are nervous about coming to see the dentist, and I enjoy watching them relax as they chat with our staff. I take the time to speak to each patient, getting to know them personally and learning about their goals for each appointment. I always strive to exceed their expectations, and love seeing their relieved smiles at the end when they realize how positive and relaxing a dental visit can be!

Family and Community

I was raised in Bowling Green, KY and have lived in Griffin since 1999. My wonderful wife and I have two great daughters and four cats! In my spare time, I enjoy competing in aerobatic contests with remote control airplanes. I also compete in 3-D competitions in archery. Of course, my favorite pastime is spending time with my beautiful family!

As an active part of our community, I have been a member of the Kiwanis Club of Griffin since 2003, am the president for the 2011-2012 year, and have been a board member since 2006. I also assist the Griffin Dental Mission, which strives to help lower to middle income people get out of pain by providing free or low cost extractions. I have been an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Griffin since 1999, where I enjoy singing in the choir.
